What We Do

We follow Jesus. In work, school, and wherever the Lord leads us, we are working to spread the truth of the gospel.  Our lives may look a little different than most around us, but we believe that bringing glory to His name from the ends of the earth is necessary.

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Romans 10:14-15)

We are not looking to have beautiful feet, but we recognize that we are called and that we owe the world the gospel. Through service and worship, we put the red letters into action.

Intern – Kali Crist

Kali is a senior at Burnet (TX) High School and will graduate in May 2020.  She is an active follower of Jesus and lends her passions and talents to many things including band as the Head Drum Major and President of the Band.

Kali’s Testimony:

“From the beginning I have always known there was a God. I grew up with four siblings in Cedar Park Texas. My family wasn’t necessarily raised religious, but I did things that would deem me as a Christian, including going to church or Wednesday night bible study with my sister but never really knew what it meant to know God.

Then we moved to Burnet Texas. The move was a culture shock and extremely tough on me because I was going into middle school. Middle school is tough for almost everyone. I had made very few friends and no one really seemed to care about God, and neither did I. My focus was on fitting in and trying to find good friends.

As I was starting to involve my self with activities such as Band and my mom was involving herself in the community and trying to find a new church. We tried a couple around Burnet but we didn’t really like any of them. Then we came across First Baptist Church Burnet. As my mother started to started becoming more involved in our church so did I.

My mom met Peyton Porterfiled, the youth pastor, along with his wife Natalie Porterfiled. They invited me to youth group on Wednesday nights. As I started to go, I met new friends and became a little bit happier. As I spent more time with Peyton and Natalie, i noticed that they set an example for me of what God looks like in a family and I became a little closer with God. A few, short years later they had moved away to another church. Although we did find another church, I became more distant with God. It was my sophomore year of high school and I really cared about what others thought of me, but not what God thought of me. As I slowly drifted away from God, I started to become more and more depressed.

In school starting my junior year, I started to take on leadership responsibilities like being Drum Major in the Burnet High school band. Through this opportunity, I met Cooper Stuteville. Cooper, now my boyfriend, became a close friend of mine and helped me realize that other people’s opinions don’t matter and that the only opinion that really matters is God’s. I was no longer sad. All I found was pure happiness in being faithful. I have become more active in my faith by helping others. Although I still struggle with my faith at times, I try and live my life through the lord and I always know that God is here with me.”
